We worked extensively with the Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation from 2008 until the Foundation's closure in 2012, and have since continued our work with the Merce Cunningham Trust. We developed content for three pioneering examples of Merce Cunningham's legacy - and we were honored to contribute to the legacy of one of the most important choreographers of our time.
In collaboration with the Foundation's Executive Director Trevor Carlson and with interviews conducted by Scholar in Residence Nancy Dalva; we shot, edited, and directed the groundbreaking Mondays with Merce web series, crafting thousands of hours of performance, rehearsal, interview, and archival footage into 16 episodes that have been viewed over a half million times. These videos provide international audiences with an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the company, technique, and process of a great artist.
The entire web series is free to view at the Cunningham Trust's website, here.
After 65 years of performances, the Merce Cunningham Dance Company celebrated its finale on New Year's Eve of 2011. Our feature-length film captures this historic occasion at the Park Avenue Armory in a singular experience. The DVD set includes individual stage recordings and can be purchased through ArtPix and Amazon.
We were entrusted with filming multiple archival-grade performances for the permanent preservation of Mr. Cunningham's work. These comprehensive documents - Dance Capsules - serve as the primary resource for re-creation and study of this invaluable work for generations to come.
